"There Are No Atheists in Foxholes"

Sunday and some old time religion talk for you.

Question - has your faith or spirituality gotten better or worse since the virus hit us?

If you said that it has gotten better, then that means you are in good company with how others responded in a recent Gallup poll on the subject:

To be honest with you, I have no idea what any of that means or portends.  My first take is that folks saying that their mental health, diet and exercise have all gotten worse but their faith has gotten better seems a little bassackwards to me.  I am more inclined to conclude that it is a case of desperate-people-doing-desperate things.  (Too, it reminds me of something that my cousin Father John used to say in his homilies on the power of prayer "If you only pray when you are in trouble, then you really are in trouble.")

But I have no doubts that faith can help explain the unexplainable and/or excuse the inexcusable.  When things are bad or sad, folks find consolation in and through their faith.  At least, that is the theory.

Me?  When I need a shot of sustenance I listen to some music.  Here's Bob's gospel tune from his Christian album Slow Train Coming.
