Twofer Tuesday - A Country Store and Baseball

Got a little bit of a mystery Twofer Tuesday today so put on your Columbo hats and see if you can figure it out.  (You Pearl Jam fans will get it right away.)

First up is a song written and recorded by Victoria Williams.  It features a country store (1:00 mark) where some imbibing is done on occasions.  The refrain "Take a bottle...." is then used a couple more times throughout the song.

Next up is this Eddie Vedder tune about the Chicago Cubs.  I landed upon it just today as I was checking out a listing of the 25 Best Jock Jams (click here.)   I had to smile at seeing Eddie's Cubs tune at the top of the list because it was just last night that Brady sent me Eddie's Pearl Jam version of Crazy Mary and texted me "Figured you would appreciate the little country store line."  I did and I do!

For you non-Pearl Jam fans, in 1993 they did the first recorded version of Crazy Mary on a benefit album for Victoria Williams.  At the time she had just been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and because she had no health insurance, several musicians put together an album to help raise money for her.  This effort ultimately led to the start up of the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund.    Victoria can be heard on Pearl Jam's version singing backup and playing guitar. To hear Pearl jam's version (click here.)  However, don't say that I didn't warn you - for the rest of your day you're gonna be humming "Take a bottle, drink it down, pass it around."
