This is Buzzy's Country Store blog designed to keep you apprised of what's going on at the Store. Buzzy's is a general store located in St. Mary's County, Southern Maryland near Pt. Lame Claims to Fame

On my way home from Buzzy's Country Store in the evenings I listen to Julie Mason's Press Pool Show on XM's POTUS Channel 124.  The other day she did a segment featuring Lame Claims to Fame where folks sent in to her accounts of having met, seen or been near someone famous.  The accounts were as funny as they were varied.

I have heard several such Lame Claim to Fame accounts from different folks who have passed thru Buzzy's Country Store over the years.   (I previously discussed my own Lame Claim to Fame of having used the same bathroom that Elvis used when he was in the Army stationed in Germany (click here.))

A more recent Lame Claim occurred just last summer when one of Peggy's renters was in Buzzy's and after my asking her where she was from she replied "Phoenix, Arizona."  Because she was dressed in black and had long curly blonde hair, she had this Stevie Nix vibe going on. I commented on it with the clever opening line "I know you get this a lot but..."  She interrupted me before I could finish and said ""I know, Stevie Nix and yes I do get told that a lot."

She then went on to tell me about how she and Stevie patronized the same grocery store in the Phoenix area when Stevie lived there.  She noted that she would always check out what Stevie had in her basket.  She laughed saying it once kind of surprised her to see furniture polish in Stevie's basket.   I asked her why that was such a surprise.  She responded "You know "Gold Dust Woman."  (I held off telling her that I never once associated Gold Dust Woman with furniture polish.)

And speaking of pop tunes related to all this here is Weird Al with his Lame Claim to Fame.

P.S. If you have any Lame Claims to Fame, let me know and I'll pass them along here on the Buzzyblog.
