Steve Madjeski - A Man Worth Knowing

A visitor to Buzzy's Country Store the other day discussed being in the hospital thinking he was going to die following an  incident in which he was stabbed.  He noted that the reason he was able to survive it was because his friend Stevie Madjeski appeared to him in a dream, encouraged him to hang in there, get well and make a full recovery.  The stabbing incident took place just one month after Steve had died in a terrible car crash discussed here in this August 2000 issue of the Enterprise:

A lot about Steve's accident and subsequent death has always bugged me.  For instance, why was it deemed necessary to do such a high speed chase after Steve ran thru the police radar trap?  The Sheriff is quoted in the Enterprise article defending the pursuit actions as "being within the guidelines established by the sheriff's office."  As explanations go, that makes only a little sense in a sort of "we do it because we said we could" kind of manner.  I still don't see how justice was well served by conducting a 100 mph high speed chase pursuing Stevie at 1 a.m. in the morning as he was heading home to Ridge.  Steve was wrong to try and outrun them; but still, he didn't have to die because of it.

In the next issue of the Enterprise there was this very nice letter about Steve:
