Grandma Moses and Norman

Anna Mary Robertson Moses died today at 101 years old in 1961.  You may know her as Grandma Moses.  (Clink on the link to learn more about her and how she took up painting in her 70's.  You will also learn in the link that Grandma Moses and Norman Rockwell were neighbors.)

It's a bit ironic that Grandma popped up on my radar today because just last week I had tripped over her while reading about John Glenn.  Seems that all of stories about Mr. Glenn made mention that at 77 years young he went back into space.  This accomplishment earned him inclusion in many of those lists of "Great things done by old people."  Those lists will also include Grandma Moses for taking up painting at 76 and three years later having her work on display at the New York Museum of Modern Art.  I think Charlie Simms buying and riding a motorcycle around town should be on these lists too!

This was Rockwell's follow up to his hit Somebody's Watching Me.
